Nigerians have taken to their Twitter handles to bemoan the rearrest of the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore by the DSS.
Recall that Sowore was arrested together with Olawale Bakare in August for calling for revolution in the country.
It could also be recalled that Sowore and Bakare were released on Thursday after a federal high court sitting in Abuja issued 24 hours ultimatum and also a fine of N100,000.
However, the two defendants were forcefully rearrested at the court premises immediately after its sitting was adjourned.
Reacting to this, a twitter handler, @Faruqsaleh767 said “today will serve as a lesson to all Nigerians that an ex military ruler, dictator, tyrant and a coward is never the answer. A coward doesn’t face oppositions, cowards results to gangsters to sustain power. I condemn DICTATORSHIP in Nigeria
Free SOWORE now.”
@Tobiholloway007 said “this really is not about conscience! It’s the rate @ which our society has degenerated. @MBuhari & @ProfOsinbajo are the greatest CRIMINAL for toiling with the rule of law. This is a banana republic. Sadly, there was once a country!”
@peter_gbenga, in his own reaction said “I think someone needs to remind @MBuhari that the nation called “Nigeria” expired 31st December,2014,hence we’re not bound to remain together. He thinks he can upend our DEMOCRACY that we fought tooth and nail for,he’s kidding. He’s not greater than the people.”
@ShelterComfo said “what more do we have to know about Sowore that the government has not charged him for? Unless they’re seeing Sowore as a major contender for presidency come 2023. 2023 election wouldn’t be about APC or PDP. It is going to be purely on competence and adherence to the rule of law.”
Another twitter handler, @Od_Israel, said “If after 24 Hours I don’t hear Political Leaders and Traditional leaders condemn this act of oppression and not giving room to rule of law to prevail, then I lose my respect totally for all of them. Because this is shameful and a slap to every Nigerians be you leader or not.”
