In showing its support for the 16 days of activism, the Nigerian Police Headquarters was lit up in orange.
In a tweet made by the United Nations Women, Nigeria, the lightening was made by the police to show its commitment to providing justice for victims of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and join the fight against rape.
“In solidarity with the #16DaysofActivism, the Police Headquarters was lit up in orange.
“This symbolic lighting stands as a testament to the committment of the @PoliceNG to provide justice for victims of SGBV and join the fight against rape.”
The 16 days of activism has witnessed different actions by different groups ranging from rallies and seminars preaching against rape and Gender Based Violence.
One of the rallies that has taken place was the #Arewametoo rally, a standstill rally calling for the adoption of Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) acts in Northern states of Nigeria.
