Katsina Police apprehend armed robbery syndicate with coaster bus

The Katsina State Police Command has given details on major arrests of criminals in the state.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, SP Gambo Isah.

The police revealed that an armed robbery suspect was arrested on 10th of November, 2019 and a 32 seater Toyota Coaster bus was recovered.

“Today being 10/11/2019 at about 06:30hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Usman, m, aged 35yrs of Unguwar Kwari, Badawa area of Kano State in possession of a 35 seater, Toyota Coaster Bus, white in colour, with registration No. AGL 869 R, Chassis No. JTGFK518604023588, along IBB Way, katsina. The said motor vehicle was stolen yesterday at G9 mobile office along Audu Bako way Kano. Investigation is ongoing.”

The police also revealed the arrest of Indian Hemp dealer in the state with high quantity of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian Hemp was recovered from him.

“On 06/11/2019 at about 12:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting a notorious Indian Hemp dealer, one Shamsu Rabi’u, m, aged 23yrs of Gidan Mutum Daya village, Kusada LGA of Katsina state with two bags containing large quantity of dried leaves reasonably suspected to be Indian Hemp. Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was arrested while trying to move the exhibits to a particular location. Suspect confessed to the crime and is assisting the police in their investigation. Investigation is ongoing.”

Another major arrest as revealed by the police is that of robbery gang on 26th of October, 2019 during annual Sheikh Ahmad Tijani Maulid celebration.

“On 26/10/2019 during the annual Sheikh Ahmed Tijjani Maulud conducted at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium, Katsina, the Command succeeded in conducting a sting operation at various locations in and around the venue, and the following members of a notorious syndicate of gang of thieves who have specialized in theft of money, GSM handsets and other valuables were apprehended. Suspects confessed to various crimes committed within the state. They are also being investigated in connection with a case of Culpable Homicide and armed robbery that recently occurred at Sabon Gari Division area of Katsina state. Investigation is ongoing.”
